The more important question is this:
As the proud father of a brilliant, independent American woman - a hard working, progressive, well-read, activist-minded, globally and environmentally-conscious daughter - I've looked forward to the day that the New York Times banner headline announces the innauguration of our nation's first woman President. There was never any serious doubt in my mind that the first female President would be elected from the Democratic Party's slate of candidates - as will the first black President and the first Hispanic President.
The Republicans have already beaten us to the starting line (AND to the finish line) on gay Presidents, but that was way back when THEY were the liberal party. [+] info here [+] Detractors be damned, I've read the love letters and the notes written by President Lincoln to Mr. Speed.
Let's face facts here, the GOP's current list of presidential candidates looks like a prosecutor's dream jury in Jena, Lousiana.
Say what you will about the policy directions of the Democratic Party - just realize who you are insulting when you bash them - because the Democrats ARE the only nation-wide political party that is truly representative of the population of the USA - in gender, in skin color, in economic status and in every other demographic factor. The Democratic Party IS The United States of America - The Republican Party is a religious cult with lots of Kool-Aid drinking followers ran by an evangelical faith-based gun-lover with a sprawling ranch compound down by Waco - the RNC is a gated community. ...and they're all made of ticky-tacky.
Is Hillary Clinton smart enough to be President?
Let's be honest - Hillary Clinton WAS fooled by George W. Bush. That's like being beaten at chess by Forrest Gump. ACTUALLY - since she's supposed to be GOOD at politics - it's REALLY more like Kasparov or Bobby Fisher being beaten by Forrest Gump.
MY DOG knew that the vote Senator Clinton cast in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq was IN FACT a vote to give Dick-n-Dubya Death & Destruction Inc. the legal permission to blow-up the entire Middle East.
If the Senator from New York DIDN'T KNOW THAT - then we've got a serious IQ problem.
If she DID KNOW THAT and now won't admit it, then we've got a serious honesty problem.
Either way - we've got a problem that WE DON'T WANT TO ELECT AS PRESIDENT - if we put someone like that into the White House - with OUR PARTY'S brand-name and logo emblazened on them - be that a male or female, a black or white or brown Democratic Party Predident - that makes US look just as stupid as The Republicans - maybe MORE STUPID - because we have the benefit of foresight AND hindsight.
...and speaking of hindsight, John Edwards understands the value of learning from your mistakes, admitting them and changing directions when you get new information.
HILLARY CLINTON IS JUST EXACTLY LIKE GEORGE W. BUSH on that particular life-lesson - and this is a lesson that the rest of us learned in kindergarten - or even earlier. I have no problem with on-the-job training - but going all the way back to potty training-level course work - on Innauguration Day - is just a bad idea. (Just ask any Republican who HASN'T gulped down second and third servings from the faith-based Dixie Cup full of Tropical Cyanide Blast Kool-Aid.)
Senator Hillary Clinton's recent pro-Bush vote in the US Senate to declare part of a soverign nation's official uniformed military "a terrorist organization" PROVES that she's either posturing - pretending to be a mindless, drooling war-hawk - just to offset the sexist GOP propaganda-driven misconception (disinformation) that a woman will be "too weak" to use the military - OR - Senator Clinton TRULY IS an ignorant, pro-war right-winger that just CANNOT or WILL NOT learn from even THE MOST OBVIOUS, EMBARRASSING and PAINFUL of lessons. ...and, as a former suppoorter, I'm DAMNED dissappointed to see that Senator Barrack Obama voted for that White House war-hawks wet-dream too. Bad move, Senator Obama.
Right now - I'm all about the John Edwards Campaign.
I know, I know I KNOW! ...dammit.
John Edwards is another rich, white, Christian male from the South - but at least THIS ONE doesn't have a ranch or dress up like a special-needs child pretending to be a cowboy.
Besides that, every Democratic Party voter, every independent voter and every Republican voter can agree on THIS POINT:
John Edwards absolutely WILL kick the living shit of these corporate white collar criminal assholes who have pulling Dubya and Dick's puppet strings for the last seven years.
Sadly - Bill and Hillary Clinton are now Corporate America's pep squad. Remember that comedy skit that featured the guy and girl cheerleading team on Saturday Night Live?

As the son of a strong, fearless, independent, smart and altruistic woman who runs a non-profit and was a Special Delegate to the United Nations, maybe I've just come to expect more from the women of this country. The WOMEN of America should ALSO demand someone better. Maybe someone like the lady shown in THIS VIDEO.
